The Golden State Challenge Sprint Car Series was born over Nineteen years ago by six of California's Championship facilities with the goal of crowning a "King Of California". The Golden State Challenge Series is, as it always has been, a non-profit California corporation with the board of directors being made of representatives of the Golden State Challenge Series racetracks that include Antioch Speedway, Petaluma Speedway, Santa Maria Speedway, Calistoga Speedway, Watsonville Speedway, Tulare Thunderbowl, Southern Oregon Speedway, Silver Dollar Speedway and Kings Speedway. In 2000, the fifteen race series offered nearly $300,000 in purse and year end points fund money with each event paying a minimum of $3,000 to win. The seasons kick off with the Mini Gold Cup special event in March and includes the Napa Valley Challenge, Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial, Spanky Matthews Memorial, Pombo-Sargent Classic, Coast Nationals and All-American Nationals to name a few. The season concludes in July offering race fans and competitors close, fair competition at Championship facilities. |
